Nothing, Arizona One of my students was talking about a trip they took down to Arizona, and mentioned going through Nothing, so of course I came home and looked it up on the internet. At mile post 148 (and a half) on Highway 93 northwest of Phoenix, population 4. Completely disconnected from the power grid, they generate their own electricity, so, as they say, when they shut off their generators at 10pm, for all intents and purposes Nothing disappears. The town sign reads "THE STAUNCH CITIZENS OF NOTHING ARE FULL OF HOPE AND FAITH AND BELIEVE IN WORK ETHIC. THRU THE YEAR THESE DEDICATED PEOPLE HAD FAITH IN NOTHING, HOPE FOR NOTHING, WORKED FOR NOTHING FOR NOTHING." Some day I gotta go see Nothing. Now, I'm gonna go look for Nowhere..... |
