Spring
has officially sprung - at least for me it has. Came home from
work today and looked at the mess under the carport. Decided
to clean it out, so I pulled the truck out, dumped a bunch of
stuff into the spring cleanup pile I started, and then proceeded
to do the same for the garage. Still has a lot more organizing
to do, but got a bunch of stuff in the back of the old Ford
truck and made enough room to park it in the garage. So, three
hours of work later, it is again officially a 2-car-&-1-motorcycle
garage. Now when it's time to start piling things out front
for the actual spring clean-up, all I have to do is pull the
truck, motorcycle and convertible out and clean the crap out
of there. Yea! |

Gas Prices : I went into the 7-11 gas station today and asked for five dollars worth of gas. The clerk just farted and gave me a receipt. |
The
big news is that I may not be teaching next year, although I'll
still be at Granite Park. Our School Technology Specialist (STS)
has been promoted to work up at the District Offices, and as
I've mentioned, I've been working with him on the school web
site and other technology things at the school. Well, I was
working with him the other day and he tells me that he has suggested
to several people that I should take over his position at the
school. I tell him, yeah, but I don't know a whole lot about
computer networks and he tells me that neither did he when he
took over 5 years ago, but they'll train me and the most important
thing to them is that I use a lot of technology in my classroom,
and that's what they're looking for. The job is really only
1/2 time taking care of the system, and anything major is taken
care of by the district people anyway, whereas the other 1/2
of the job is working directly with the teachers in the school
and helping them to use the technology in their classrooms.
So I figured why not? I love the technology, would really like
to learn more about the workings of the network, and would enjoy
running the workshops with the teachers to help them use more
technology in their classrooms. Interviews are May 9th, so I
probably won't know for sure until the middle of May, but according
to Larry (the STS) my chances are very good. At first it was
weird thinking that I wouldn't be in the classroom next year,
but I like working with the technology, I like the idea of teaching
adults and I'll still be a part of the school, and still have
interactions with the kids. So now I'm pretty excited about
it.......... |

HOW TO CLEAN
THE HOUSE
1. Open a new file in your PC. 2. Name it "Housework." 3. Send it to the RECYCLE BIN. 4. Empty the RECYCLE BIN. 5. Your PC will ask you, "Are you sure you want to delete Housework permanently?" 6. Calmly answer, "Yes," and press the mouse button firmly...... 7. Feel better?
Works for me! |

Carlin said it best about Martha Stewart.. "Boy, I feel
a lot safer now that she's behind bars. O. J. Simpson and Kobe
Bryant are still walking around; Osama Bin Laden too, but they
take the ONE woman in America willing to cook, clean, and work
in the yard, and they haul her fanny off to jail." |

Ahhh,
another April fools day, been and gone. Made it through this
one without getting "got", and I even worked at the
Chevron that night. That's a bonus. Another bonus this week
was my first paycheck since I saw the financial advisor. He
helped me refinance the house, at a lower APR and with a 20
year mortgage, paid off all my credit cards and started a 403b
retirement account. I was a little worried about how that would
affect my net pay, because somehow we squeezed (squoze just
didn't look right, but squeezed sounds wrong. This is why I
teach math not english) $950 a month out of my paycheck to put
into the 403b. But alas, I got my paycheck and even ended up
with $100 more spending money than I had before the changes.
Now I just have to wait until next April to see how that's going
to affect my tax refund. I know it's going to get cut way down
from the refund I'm used to getting, which was the plan, but
hopefully I'm not going to end up having to pay a lot. Perfection
would be having the result be within $100 bucks either way.
Oh well, I got 10 months before I have to worry about that.
The good news is I'll have the house paid off by the time I
retire, I'll have a bunch in a retirement account (that I can
borrow off of) and I'm already a hundred bucks a month ahead
of where I was before. Doesn't mean I get to quit the Chevron,
but I like the couple of days a week there and it does mean
that there isn't any pressing reason to work full time in the
summer. So this summer I'll be working three nights in a row,
with 4 days off in between. Suhweeet! Oh, by the way, I'm canceling
April 13th again this year, we're going straight from the 12th
to the 14th. Sorry folks, the IRS already informed me that if
I cancel the 15th they'll be auditing every return of mine from
1977 until 10 years after I die......... |

The official Red Team photo, the team that I coach for the after school Indoor Soccer league. We started out kicking butt, undefeated in the first half of the season. But because of a few player changes (because it was decided my team was too strong and we were kicking butt too much), we've been on a bit of a loosing streak. I've got some really good players, but they haven't meshed the way the original team did. Oh well, it's still fun, and I have to admit it's cool being called Coach Rossi.
