Why you shouldn't take a guy shopping with you. Click Here

It's after dark at the Chevron. Guy comes in and wants $15 in gas with a $100 bill. I told him that I just made a drop and that I couldn't break that big a bill. Now most people would realize : Convience store, after dark on a weekend, hmmmm, maybe they don't keep a whole hell of a lot of cash on hand. You know, robbers and all. Not this guy. Gets all pissed off and asks me "Where are we, in Russia?" Granted you probably couldn't get change for a US $100 bill in Russia, but you could say the same for a hundred other countries. Nope, I guess not being able to fulfill his every whim makes me a communist. So, I just try to explain that it's company policy not to keep lots of cash in the till, as a way to deter us from becoming a prime target of not-so-honest people looking for quick cash. That doesn't work either. He comes out with "I can't beleive this, with this million dollar building and you can't take my $100 bill!" Um, yeah. So, what's your point? It's not like one thing is really connected to the other. But anyways, he's never coming to the store again, and it's all my fault. Ok, I can live with that. I didn't think he was all that scary, but the lady after him said she had considered whether or not she should leave while he was there. I laughed. And it was a nice break from the drunken homeless guy that keeps talking about how he's going to protect us if someone does try to rob us. Yeah, he sees a lot of questionable people lurking around the store, just waiting for him to give up his vigil so they can come rob us blind. Of course, nobody else sees them, but hey, it's all fun at the Chevron.........

I went and met Landon today, he's as adorable as can be. Held him in my arms and he just smiled. He even opened his eyes and looked straight at me, and gurgled a little bit. Todd thinks, and most agreed, that he has a definite Rossi look, whereas his older sister is definitly a Weiler. Works our good for them, one girl, one boy, one favoring the Weiler look and the other favoring the Rossi look. He's looking healthy, happy and strong. Mother and father are doing great too.

Congratulations to Lynda and Todd. At 8:30 this evening Landon Todd Weiler was born, weighing 7 lbs and 2 oz, stretching a full 20" long. This now makes two grand-neices and 2 grand-nephews for me, and one more on the way, next month I think. Anyways, according to his grandma, he is healthy, happy and, of course, beautiful. Welcome to the world, welcome to the family young man.

New windows. Yesterday I got a bid for windows, and looks like I'm going to be getting new windows for the house. Sometime this week or next they're going to come and measure for them, and then it'll take about 4 weeks for them to come in. They're just your almost basic white vinyl, but they're going to be a lot tighter than the wood ones I have now. And they'll all have screens, so I'll be able to open all the windows, not just the 3 that have screens now. Yeah! Of course when they're done I'll have pictures of them for ya, already got the before ones. And now that I know how much they're going to cost, I can start on the back deck and stair. Ahhh, workin' on the house. Hopefully when I'm done with the back I'll still have the energy and motivation to finish up the kitchen. Um, yeah, right.
Well, if you remember reading about it, I went through Accreditation at Brockbank last year, and we just finished it up this year at Granite Park. Once again, we got the highest rating possible, a 6-clear. Which means that we don't have to go through Accreditation for another 6 years, and we don't even need watching during that time. We got some really good commendations, and a few good recommendations. Anyway, the work is done and we did great. Yeah! And, um, only 12 days of school left!...

Well, got the news today about the STS position at the school - I didn't get it. I'll be teaching next year, all 8th grade : 2 pre algebra and 2 algebra classes. But that's ok, 'cause I really do like teaching, and I was a little apprehensive about not being in the classroom next year. I would have liked the job, the experience would have been great, and I would have liked working with the teachers and the technology, and let's face it, a break from the grind of grades and classroom management would have been nice. But I'm pretty proud of myself anyways. I heard through the grapevine that there were almost 20 applicants and I was one of the few names that was being bounced around down to the bitter end. Considering that less than 3 months ago I hadn't even thought about trying out for the position, and that I was beat out by someone who has been working towards the position for a couple years now, I did pretty damn good. Both the current STS and the principal said that they had heard a lot of favorable talk towards me. So, C'est la vie. I'm gonna be on a good team next year, the teachers at the school are all great, but I get along really well with all the ones on my team. (4 of them I loved working with this year and one of them is Bolduc who I went to the Jazz game with.)

Well, wish me luck on my interview at the district tomorrow. At 3:00 pm I'll be walking into the District Offices trying to convince them that I should be the next STS for Granite Park Middle School. Not that I'm nervous or anything. Yeah. So, Joanna Gibb who came from brockbank with me, and who happens to know that I am Formal-Attire-Disabled, went to Shopko with me to pick out a pair of pants and shirt for the interview. Going Formal-Casual (as formal as I get) with a pair of Khaki pants (no pleats) and a black short sleeved shirt. I think I'll even wear the real shoes I happen to have, not my black sneakers. Yeah, let's do it right.
What am I? Pictures like those word puzzles [ w...e...e...k...e...n...d : long weekend] that make you think to figure out what they mean. Click Here.

The process of replacing the windows has started. I'm doing the two in the breezeway myself, since it's only marginally insulated and I don't heat it anyway. Got the first one put in and re-discovered the fact that nothing is perfectly square in an old home. So it was a lot of fun trying to make it all fit right. Anyways, while I was checking it out after getting it installed, I looked over into the back of the house next door (which was for rent) and saw a car in the driveway that I recognized. I look over there and see Barry, the graveyard guy from Chevron and ask "What are you doing here?" Well, seems he and a couple friends are going to be renting the house next door. Since he had never been over here, he was as surprised to hear my voice as I was that he was there. (Did that make sense?) Well, they guy has a sense of humor, because today when I was in the back getting ready to refinish the front deck, he peers over the fence between the yards and says "Heidy-ho neighbor!" (Anyone who does not get that reference has missed a serious piece of Television Americana). Oh, did I mention that I sanded down the whole front deck and stained it with real oil stain, not that pseudo-oil latex stuff I had on it before that had already started to wear off and peel after only one year? No? Ok, I'll tell ya about that some other time........

As you may well have noticed (and if you didn't you need to see a doctor) I've decided to go with a lighter and brighter page here. Yeah, just needed a change and didn't want to totally revamp the look, so I just did this.
I also fixed it so that the password works on the e-Mail login again. So, now you once again can go straight from here to your own e-Mail. Not quite sure what I did to mess it up in the first place, but it always works to go right to the code and replace the whole thing.......
And finally, couple new photo galleries. One of when I coached the after school football game and the other from when we took a bunch of students to Hollywood Connections.

Spring has officially sprung - at least for me it has. Came home from work today and looked at the mess under the carport. Decided to clean it out, so I pulled the truck out, dumped a bunch of stuff into the spring cleanup pile I started, and then proceeded to do the same for the garage. Still has a lot more organizing to do, but got a bunch of stuff in the back of the old Ford truck and made enough room to park it in the garage. So, three hours of work later, it is again officially a 2-car-&-1-motorcycle garage. Now when it's time to start piling things out front for the actual spring clean-up, all I have to do is pull the truck, motorcycle and convertible out and clean the crap out of there. Yea!
